open call for zine submissions

The Zine Festival, an initiative of FemLibrary, is excited to announce an open call for submissions. Dedicated to celebrating, preserving and amplifying feminist and queer self-expression through zine-making, this call is open to zine makers, creators, writers, illustrators, comic book artists and community members.
As the festival’s name թուղթուգիր* suggests, all you truly need to create a zine is a single sheet of paper and an idea. Your zine may explore feminism, queerness, a political struggle, community care, mental health, or a personal experience, and other intersecting themes. It may take a form of poetry, prose, photography, comics and other forms of self-expression. We welcome both finished works and works in progress, in printed or digital format. Whether your publication is handmade, stitched, folded, or experimental, we are interested in the DIY approach.
The selected zines will be exhibited as part of our three-day festival which will take place in the spring of 2026. They will also be scanned and archived as part of a growing digital library that documents community knowledge, experiences, political positions.
You can apply here.
The three-day program includes exhibitions, workshops, film screenings, and discussions.
Whether you’re a seasoned zine creator or a beginner, we encourage you to join us. Submit your work by March 31.
*թուղթ (tught) paper, գիր (gir) writing is a reference to the ritual act of writing someone’s name or words on paper as part of a casting a spell. We approach this tradition through feminist lens, viewing it not as a source of fear or harm, but recognizing the power of writing itself.
