Wet Sand is a 2021 feature film created by Georgian, Switzerland-based screenwriter and director Elene Naveriani. It follows Moe, a young woman who attends her grandfather’s funeral in a seaside town in Georgia. Before he died, her grandfather had been living with a man and now the entire town knows about it.
The film screening will take place on Wednesday, June 17th, at 19:00 at FemLibrary (43/2 Pushkin Street).
The screening is organised by @kvirklub, an open source digital archive of queer cinema made in the Caucasus, Central Asia and Eastern Europe.

About the author
Naveriani is a pioneer of Georgian queer cinema. They directed a series of short films detailing the queer and PoC experiences in the region. Father Bless Us(2013) focuses on a relationship between a Georgian woman and her black female lover. Gospel of Anasyrma (2014) depicts a Georgian man’s attempts to reconcile his relationships with his family and friends as he is coming to terms with his feelings for a trans woman. Red Ants Bite (2019) follows two Nigerian migrants who form a connection against the backdrop of mundane racism in Tbilisi. Their movies were screened at Cannes and Locarno, and their first feature film won the award for best film at Queer Porto
