zine-making workshop

Dear friends,
As part of the three-day “tughtugir” zine festival, we invite you to take part in a zine-making workshop, which will take place on May 15 from 12:00 to 16:00 at FemLibrary (address: 43/2 Pushkin St.).
During the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to create their own zines using two methods. The first method is the most common and simplest way of making a zine: cutting and folding selected paper, cutting and pasting illustrations from various magazines, and transforming the ideas into text. The second method is bookbinding, through which participants will be able to create and sew their zines.
Places for the workshop are limited, so be sure to register by May 14 using this link: https://forms.gle/ZcsP4tDK6VEUJfRd7
The workshop will be led by arpi balyan from FemLibrary.
arpi balyan is a queer, feminist interdisciplinary artist based in the city of Abovyan. Their work spans various forms of contemporary art, including visual art, literary art, performance art, podcasting, and street art. arpi’s interests are centered on feminism and intersectional movements such as decolonization, antimilitarism, sexualities, anti-capitalism, abolition, neurodiversity, mental health activism, spirituality, and environmental issues.
For arpi, making zines is a way to creatively express their political ideas, experiences, and reflections. They have been creating zines since 2017. They have always been drawn to the idea that people interested in art and political activism can realize their creative and political thoughts with minimal resources, without depending on publishers or institutions that hold power and impose agendas. According to them, zines are a powerful way to make unheard voices heard
