Dear friends from Gyumry, FemLibrary invites you to “Feminism for the 99%: A Manifesto” a presentation of the Armenian translation of the book, which will take place on November 8 at 17:00 at the The Gallery of Mariam and Yeranuhi Aslamazyan Sisters (232 Abovyan St).
Realizing the influence of neoliberal feminism in Armenia, the members of FemLibrary initiated the translation of this Manifesto, hoping that it would become available to a wide range of readers and would create many opportunities for reading and discussing the text.
This work by Cinzia Arruzza, Tithi Bhattacharya, and Nancy Fraser is inspired by a new wave of feminism that argues that feminism shouldn’t start – or stop – with seeing women represented at the top of society. It must begin with those at the bottom, and fight for the world they deserve. And that means targeting capitalism. Feminism must be anti-capitalist, eco-socialist, and anti-racist.
We hope that the Armenian translation of the book will generate sprouts of ideas in the rebellious soul of the reader and will push them to search for new and unique ways of resistance.
This initiative would not be possible without our friends:
